Inch. Located on the N11 road from Gorey to Arklow is the village of Inch. The place name 'Inch' is an Anglicisation of the old Irish word 'Inis' which means an island. In 1690 Inch Church was the scene of a skirmish between the fords of King William III and James II. There is a monument at Inch which is dedicated to the memory of Anthony Perry and Michael Redmond two of the men from the district who fought in 1798. In 1921 Inch was the scene of an armed ambush.
